Man City’s next six Premier League fixtures compared with Arsenal as title race intensifies

Before the international break, Arsenal defeated Crystal Palace 4-1, increasing their lead at the top of the Premier League table over Manchester City by eight points.

The Gunners were able to recover from their Europa League loss to Sporting Lisbon earlier in the same week with a comfortable win, thanks in large part to Bukayo Saka’s outstanding performance.

Saka scored two goals and assisted another. Manchester City, on the other hand, was occupied with an FA Cup quarter-final match against Burnley on Saturday, which they won 6-0, giving them a game in hand over Arsenal.

The season is now on pause for the final international break before the final sprint to the finish line begins in April.

Manchester City still have 11 games left in the Premier League, in addition to their participation in the Champions League and the FA Cup. In contrast, Arsenal has no other competitions to worry about, which allows them to concentrate all their efforts and attention on their ten remaining league matches.

After the international break, the race for the title is expected to be captivating. SportsDias has examined the next six league fixtures for both Manchester City and Arsenal to provide a detailed comparison.

Manchester City – 2nd (61pts)

  • Liverpool (H) – April 1
  • Southampton (A) – April 8
  • Leicester City (H) – April 15
  • Arsenal (H) – April 26
  • Fulham (A) – April 30
  • Leeds United (H) – May 6

The international break couldn’t have come at a worse time for City since they’ve won their last six matches, scoring 23 goals and only conceding once. They’ve been performing exceptionally well, and they hope the break doesn’t interrupt their momentum.

In the past, City’s match against Liverpool has been crucial in determining the title race, but this year it holds less importance. Despite this, City is expected to win.

City’s upcoming four fixtures in the next six games, except for the massive match against Arsenal on April 26, shouldn’t be too challenging. However, they must not become complacent and should avoid taking anything for granted.

Arsenal – 1st (69pts)

  • Leeds United (H) – April 1
  • Liverpool (A) – April 9
  • West Ham United (A) – April 16
  • Southampton (H) – April 21
  • Manchester City (A) – April 26
  • Chelsea (H) – April 29

On paper, Arsenal’s next six fixtures appear to be slightly more challenging than City’s. Their visits to Anfield and the Etihad Stadium will test Arteta’s team to their limits, and their performance in those matches will determine whether they can dethrone City.

Arsenal’s three upcoming home games, including the game against Chelsea on April 29, present good opportunities to secure nine points. They have the best home record in the Premier League this season, having garnered 35 points out of 42 possible.

Their trip to West Ham United may also prove to be a challenge, as the Hammers are fighting to avoid relegation. Additionally, Leeds United has a reputation for being a difficult team to play against.
