Man City’s fate laid bare after claims that 155 alleged financial charges have been dropped
A journalist has refuted reports suggesting that Manchester City‘s 155 alleged financial charges have been dismissed.
The Premier League charged City with 115 alleged breaches of financial regulations following a four-year investigation into rule violations from 2009 to 2018. The case was referred to an independent commission.
Premier League chief executive Richard Masters emphasized that a decision date for the investigation’s outcome and Manchester City’s punishment has been established.
Despite the lack of further updates, rumors have circulated that all charges against Pep Guardiola’s team have been dropped.
However, Daily Mail journalist Mike Keegan took to X on Friday to deny these rumors, stating, “There’s a rumour flying around that Manchester City’s charges have been dropped. Told it’s not true.”

Pressure on the Premier League has increased recently due to the penalties imposed on Everton and Nottingham Forest for violating profit and sustainability rules, resulting in points deductions.
Leicester City is also expected to face consequences next season for similar rule breaches.
Moreover, Manchester City has been accused of non-cooperation with the investigation while consistently denying all accusations.
Upon the initial announcement of the charges in February 2023, City stated, “The club welcomes the review of this matter by an independent commission, to impartially consider the comprehensive body of irrefutable evidence that exists in support of its position.
“As such we look forward to this matter being put to rest once and for all.”
