Man City transfer round-up: Jack Grealish update, Harry Kane plea and left-back plan
Manchester City continue to be associated with two huge possible transfers this summer, with Jack Grealish and Harry Kane their top targets.
Pep Guardiola’s side would have to dash out around £200million to land both England stars, who would join an already fearsome attack.
But other ranks may also require improvement, with many observers suggesting the Premier League champions need to improve their current left-back options.
To that end they have been associated with the likes of Arsenal star Kieran Tierney and Sporting Lisbon’s Nuno Mendes – although Guardiola may already have a solution up his sleeve.
Fernandinho’s son plays agent to tempt Kane
Fernandinho’s son sent Harry Kane a birthday message – with a mocked-up picture of the Tottenham striker in a City shirt.
Along with Grealish, Kane is thought to be City’s other top target this summer, although Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is not keen to sell his star man.
But that hasn’t put off Davi Roza, whose dad Fernandinho lately signed an extension for another season.
The youngster posted on his Instagram story with the message: “Happy Birthday Harry Kane and ‘ We hope to see you in that shirt.”

Davi also posted a picture of Grealish in a City shirt on his Instagram page, with Kane also in the image wearing a Blues tracksuit.
It remains to be seen whether his ideal line-up comes into fruition ahead of next term.
Grealish breaks silence
Aston Villa player Grealish has broken his silence on Twitter as speculation continues over a move to City.
Guardiola’s side are said to be more confident of landing the midfielder, with discussions at an advanced stage, according to The Athletic.
Grealish is currently on holiday after his Euro 2020 exploits, and City are anticipated to ramp up their pursuit of him when he returns.
On Thursday, the 25-year-old tweeted for the first time since the day of England’s Euro final loss to Italy.
Best summer ever! ❤️⚽️ @England https://t.co/VAUwD3qJAN

The Three Lions’ Twitter account posted a video montage of Grealish’s best behind-the-scenes moments from the competition finals – and in response, he tweeted “Best summer ever!” along with heart and football emojis.
With Villa keen to hand Grealish a bumper new deal, and City also lining up a huge offer, his summer could be about to get even better whichever decision he makes.
Guardiola’s left-back plan
City have been associated with a move for a left-back this summer, with the likes of Tierney and Nuno Mendes on their radar.
But according to the Manchester Evening News, Guardiola won’t target an upgrade on converted midfielder Oleksandr Zinchenko – with Benjamin Mendy set to rise to the challenge.
Mendy has grappled to justify his £52m transfer fee since joining from Monaco in 2017
But the MEN’s chief City writer Stuart Brennan thinks he was showing signs of regaining his best form last season.
And the concern is that the 27-year-old will kick on next term, offering his manager an option to the popular Zinchenko at left-back or left wing-back.
