Man City statistic that hints Liverpool, Chelsea, and Arsenal may have no shot at the Premier League title

Manchester City’s ability to overcome a two-goal deficit could end the Premier League title hopes of Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Tottenham.

In four of their last six league games, the current champions trailed by two goals but overcame the deficit to salvage at least a draw in all of them.

The pattern was repeated during this weekend’s 4-2 home victory over Crystal Palace by the Citizens.

The visitors, who have been somewhat of a bogey team for the Sky Blues in recent seasons, jumped out to a two-goal lead thanks to an own goal by John Stones and a header by Joachim Anderson.

Pep Guardiola’s men rallied to defeat their London rivals, with Bernardo Silva scoring the game’s first goal and Erling Haaland stealing the show with a hat trick.

It was the second time in two weeks that the club had overcome a two-goal deficit to tie Newcastle at St. James’s Park.

City overcame adversity similar to this at the end of the previous season, when they had to come back from two goals down against both West Ham and Aston Villa in order to secure the Premier League title.

The victory against Villa was especially significant, as three goals in five minutes sparked wild celebrations at the Etihad as they clinched the title in dramatic fashion.

The team’s consistent ability to recover from deficits will leave Liverpool, Arsenal, and Chelsea wondering how they can defeat the league’s dominant team.

Guardiola was eager to emphasize the impact the new forward Haaland had in motivating his teammates to overcome a deficit.

Since his summer transfer from Borussia Dortmund, the £60 million man has been on fire, scoring six goals in four matches.

“I saw his body language at 2-0 down and how he encouraged his team-mates,” the Spaniard said.“For the first goal. I have a feeling that if he is not involved in the game, he is always there. He never runs away from the game.

“As a striker he is incredible. He cannot touch the ball, but he is always involved. The quality for the first goal, the cross is good, and the second, he is there..

“He does not shoot the ball, he places it in the net. I would say the number of goals he has scored is astonishing.”

City will continue their season on Wednesday in Manchester against Premier League newcomers Nottingham Forest.
