Man City stance on Serge Gnabry transfer amid the impending double departure
Despite the fact that Raheem Sterling appears certain to join Gabriel Jesus in London, Manchester City are unlikely to pursue a deal for Bayern Munich forward Serge Gnabry this summer.
Jesus was formally revealed as an Arsenal player on Monday in a £45 million deal, and despite discussions lasting longer than expected, all sides are still expecting Chelsea to sign Sterling.
Losing those two players, despite for large prices, removes a lot of experience from Pep Guardiola’s forward line while also reducing the numbers in a roster that was never as large as their competitors’.
Gnabry, who came through the ranks at Arsenal, has earned his reputation at Bayern and has won four Bundesliga titles, but after failing to extend his contract, which expires next summer, his club is willing to sell him to get a fee for him in the current window.
The 26-year-old was valued at €40 million by German tabloid BILD, which is less than the payments City received for Jesus and will receive for Sterling.
While it is unclear whether the club would return to the transfer market to add another man to the squad, it is believed that Gnabry would not be on a shortlist for this summer.
City have signed Julian Alvarez and Erling Haaland for next season, and Bernardo Silva can also play wide. Cole Palmer is also expected to continue his development with the team.
