Man City set to turn down Arsenal’s bid for yet another first-team star

Man City set to turn down Arsenal’s bid for yet another first-team star

Sources have told Football Insider that Man City will not sell any more first-team players to Arsenal.

During the summer transfer window, the Londoners acquired Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko from the Premier League champions.

Pep Guardiola authorized the departures of both stars after securing replacement arrangements.

Jesus was acquired by Arsenal for £45 million, followed by Zinchenko for £30 million plus £2 million in add-ons.

However, questions are being raised at City as to why they allowed two first-team players to join a competitor who is now their greatest title rival.

It is now believed that Guardiola’s squad will turn down any additional offers from Arsenal for players who would immediately join their squad.

After 14 games, Arsenal leads City by five points in the Premier League, while Newcastle United trails the London club by seven points for third place.

Since their October meeting was postponed due to the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, the two parties have yet to meet this season.

Jesus’ five goals and seven assists this season have established him as a fan favorite at the Emirates Stadium, although he is currently on a six-match goalless streak.

Despite suffering from a number of injuries, Zinchenko has also proven to be a valuable addition at left back.

Historically, the flow of signings has been reversed; between 2009 and 2014, Samir Nasri, Gael Clichy, Bacary Sagna, Kolo Toure, and Emmanuel Adebayor all joined City from Arsenal.

The Gunners resume their Premier League title defense against West Ham after Christmas Day, while City faces Leeds United on the 28th.
