Man City set Gabriel Jesus transfer price tag as Arsenal prepare summer bid for striker

According to rumors, Manchester City slapped a price tag of roughly £40 million for Arsenal target Gabriel Jesus.

Arsenal are interested in signing Jesus this summer, a year before his contract with City expires.

Since the Gunners’ interest surfaced, the Brazilian has hit a good vein of form.

He has six goals in his previous three appearances in all competitions, including one in Saturday’s 4-0 win against Leeds, which returned Pep Guardiola’s team to the top of the Premier League.

Jesus’ lack of starts this season has led to speculation that he will leave the club, although he has since started four of the club’s last five games.

However, with his contract expiring this summer, City have had to come up with a figure that they would accept if he did not sign a new contract.

According to the Mirror, the final sum will be around £40 million.

Raheem Sterling could also be offloaded, with both players potentially worth more than £100 million to the Etihad club.

City are heavy favorites to sign Borussia Dortmund attacker Erling Haaland, so Jesus’ playing time may be reduced even further if he stays. Meanwhile, Arsenal is in serious need of a new forward.

According to reports, Mikel Arteta would want to add two players to his frontline. Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah’s contracts expire in the summer.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang left in January, so Arteta’s attack might be radically different next season.

Jesus has not always played as Pep Guardiola’s No. 9, but his adaptability across the front would be appealing to Arteta, particularly if he brings in another out-and-out striker.

Arsenal spent approximately £150 million on new arrivals last summer, so £40 million for Jesus should be no problem.

In an interview with ESPN last week, the club’s technical director, Edu, discussed summer preparations.

Edu indicated that plans for the club’s forthcoming window had already been submitted to the club’s owners. He stated:

“Our planning has already been done, it has already reached the owners.

“It’s a matter of step by step, how we are going to finish the season and to put in place the planning that I’m very excited about. A lot of things have to be put in place and that takes time, so I am expecting a busy summer.”
