Man City manager Pep Guardiola could scuttle Liverpool’s Gini Wijnaldum replacement plan.
Manchester City could be on the path to scupper Liverpool’s plans to sign German midfielder Florian Neuhaus.
The Gladbach player, who caught the eye in this season’s Champions League, has surfaced as a possible target for the Reds.
Jurgen Klopp understands the Bundesliga like the back of his hand and he has been fascinated by Neuhaus’ development.
Liverpool are currently looking for a replacement for Gini Wijnaldum, who will join PSG upon the expiry of his contract at the end of the month.
Neuhaus has the special quality to fill the void but his plays have already put him in the shop window.
Now Spanish outlet AS claim City are interested in rivaling Liverpool for the 24-year-old.
The Premier League champions remain convinced of keeping Fernandinho but to date, there has still been no agreement over a new contract.

Bernardo Silva could also leave the Etihad Stadium this summer and City want to try and strengthen in a bid to requite their Champions League final defeat.
Liverpool remains well-placed to land Neuhaus but Bayern Munich are also in the race.
The player was lately forced to deny that he’d agreed on terms with the Bundesliga champions.
“I read that my move to FC Bayern in 2022 was already a done deal,” he said.
“I can clearly deny that here and now.
“I haven’t signed a contract anywhere except with Borussia Mönchengladbach.
“I feel very much at home there at the moment.”
Neuhaus, who hails from Bavaria, has suggested he would find it hard to turn down a move to the most consequential club in Germany.
“Home is a very important point for me,” he added. “I can well imagine living in Markt Kaufering again later.
“But I also found a piece of home in Dusseldorf [after spending the 2017/18 season on loan at Fortuna], where I met my girlfriend, and I feel very comfortable at Gladbach.”
