Man City have dropped major Ilkay Gundogan hint with deal ‘99% done’
According to Gabby Agbonlahor, the upcoming acquisition of Mateo Kovacic is a suggestion that Ilkay Gundogan, a Manchester City player, might depart from the club during the summer.
Agbonlahor, a former Aston Villa striker, expressed in an interview with Football Insider that the current midfield of the Premier League champions does not require any additional strengthening.
On 1 June, sources informed this website that Manchester City is near to completing the signing of Chelsea’s Kovacic, and the deal is now almost finalized with a 99% certainty.
Gundogan’s contract with Manchester City is set to expire later this month, which could mark the conclusion of his successful seven-year tenure with the club, during which he has won numerous trophies.
In the current season, he has made 50 appearances, contributing 11 goals and seven assists, including a brace in the FA Cup final victory against Manchester United.
While Arsenal and Barcelona have been linked with a potential interest in Gundogan, recent reports indicate that Saudi Arabian clubs are also expressing a keen desire to bring him to the Middle East, offering a lucrative contract.
Agbonlahor shared his thoughts with Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury, stating the following in response to the situation:
“I think there’s something going on at City.
“There’s a reason they are going for Kovacic. I think one of Gundogan or Bernardo Silva is going to leave.
“They don’t need anyone else in that current squad.
“That Man City team doesn’t need any help. They’ve got two full squads as it stands.
“For them to be advancing with a deal for Kovacic – that hints at Gundogan potentially leaving.”
