Luis Luis Suarez reveals how ‘everyone wanted’ to play ‘weak’ Chelsea in the Champions League progression.

Chelsea were the underlings and widely unheralded winners of the Champions League back in 2012, and they were once again this year.

For some understanding, Chelsea plays better as the underdogs with less pressure on our shoulders and did it again on Saturday night to become European Champions.

You had that sense all along with the competition that teams were not worrying of Chelsea and did not take them sternly until the latter stages of the rounds, and Atletico Madrid striker Luis Suarez has pretty much established this.

Chelsea of course were the team that thumped Atletico out of the competition, and perhaps this was when it made him and some others sit back and start to worry Chelsea a little more.

The rest is history, and Chelsea will now spend the new season as Champions of Europe. But Suarez is taking motivation from our campaign, as reported by Tribal Football.

He said:

“The ambition does not have to stop and why not dream of having that possibility of entering the club’s history and winning a European Cup.

“It would be something incredible, something unique. The teams and the possibilities are not marked by anyone before each season, whether one or the other is a favourite.

“Look at Chelsea, whom everyone wanted to face because they saw them as weak and they ended up winning the Champions League.”

Meanwhile, The Chelsea Academy graduate, Mason Mount becomes the youngest personality to be nominated for the English top-flight’s highest individual honor in 2020/21 after a fine season, which was only his second in the Premier League and ended with him hoisting the Champions League trophy.

The other players nominated for the award are Bruno Fernandes (Manchester United), Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspur), Mohamed Salah (Liverpool), Jack Grealish (Aston Villa), Tomas Soucek (West Ham United), Kevin De Bruyne and Ruben Dias (both Manchester City).
