“Looked like Milan Baros”- Liverpool star labeled as the worst player in 2022 World Cup so far

“Looked like Milan Baros”- Liverpool star labeled as the worst player in 2022 World Cup so far

Gabby Agbonlahor believes that Darwin Nunez has been the worst player at the FIFA World Cup this year.

Week after week, former Aston Villa footballer and commentator Gabby Agbonlahor continues to criticize Liverpool and our players.

The most recent criticisms have been directed towards Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez after his World Cup performance for Uruguay.

In the tournament, Nunez has been doing poorly for his nation.

The 23-year-old has no goal contributions in three group stage outings. Uruguay won one, drew one, and lost one match, but Korea’s victory against Portugal prevented La Celeste from advancing.

Darwin had only one shot on goal until he was substituted out in the 80th minute, bringing an end to his disappointing World Cup run. On Twitter, Agbonlahor was quick to criticize him for his comments on talkSPORT.

During a question-and-answer session, he was asked to identify the weakest player in the tournament thus far. Here is his Twitter response to talkSPORT EDGE: “Nunez has been poor. He’s looked like Milan Baros.”

The allusion to Baros is slightly incorrect. The Czech Republic international won the UEFA Champions League and represented his country in the World Cup, two achievements Agbonlahor never accomplished in his career.

To be fair, Nunez has underperformed in this event. Darwin has not contributed to any goals in this World Cup, therefore it is difficult to argue against Agbonlahor. A goal or even an assist would have benefited the former Penarol striker’s supporters, but he can only look to the future and put this disappointing tournament behind him.

If he had won that penalty in the 57th minute, which the referee unexpectedly did not award, Agbonlahor might be mute right now. However, it was not meant to be.
