‘Look at the table’: Michael Owen makes fresh Arsenal claim following Chelsea shock defeat

Following Chelsea’s surprising defeat against Brentford on Saturday, Michael Owen has questioned if the Gunners will now be able to catch Chelsea in the Premier League table.

Chelsea were beaten 4-1 at Stamford Bridge, and Owen addressed Premier League Productions (02/04/22 at 5:10 pm), “‘who would have expected that?”

In the hunt for the Premier League’s top four, Arsenal is looking over their shoulder at Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United.

They may also have to look ahead because they are five points behind their London rivals, with a game in hand, and a trip to the current European Cup holders coming up in the coming weeks.

Nonetheless, following Chelsea’s devastating setback yesterday, this is Owen’s quick assessment of Thomas Tuchel’s team’s current situation.

“Who would have believed that,” asked Owen. “Chelsea are in good form in the Premier League.

“All of a sudden, you look at the league table and you think ‘wow’. Are Arsenal going to catch them?”

Mikel Arteta and his team have games against Manchester United, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, and West Ham coming up.

It may either end in complete disaster, with them placing sixth and entering the Europa League.

Or they win the majority of their games, securing Champions League football and possibly a third-place finish.

While there is no difference between finishing third and fourth because both result in Champions League football.

From a psychological sense, it may do this youthful and rapidly improving Arsenal team the world of good.
