The 57 years old Jose Agostinho Becker, father to Liverpool’s top stopper Allison Becker and Fluminense goalkeeper Muriel Becker had been reported missing at 5:00 pm on Wednesday 24th and a team of the fire department was sent to search for him.
His body was later found by a friend and a family employee hours later. he had passed away after a diving accident near his holiday home in southern Brazil in what the police described as a ” dam” with no foul play suspect.
His body was recovered at around midnight with lots of tweet coming thereafter to condole the family of becker for their loss. Club Internacional where both Allison Becker and his brother Muriel Becker player tweeted their condolences, stating that it received the news about the passing of Jose Agostinho Becker with great sadness. The club wished strength for the family and friends of Becker during this painful time.
What remains to be seen is whether the Liverpool goalkeeper will be given a compassionate leave to condole with the rest of his family. This comes months after Liverpool’s manager Jurgen Klopp lost his mother and wasn’t allowed to attend her funeral due to the covid 19 restrictions that were in place by then.
Allison joined Liverpool back in 2018 from Ac Roma and has enjoyed a good season with the Reds. in 2019 he won FIFA best men’s goalkeeper award. His brother Muriel Becker who made over 120 appearances for the Club Internacional senior team plays as a goalkeeper at Brazil’s Fluminense.
Allison currently has had a tough season in recent weeks as he has been involved in prolific mistakes costing his team to drop points. Liverpool is the defending English Premier League champions and currently sit in sixth place after failing to register a win in four straight premier league matches.
