Liverpool star named the ‘strongest in the world’ by Premier League rival

Liverpool did not get the result we were hoping for this weekend.

However, Jurgen Klopps men can take some positives from the show.

The Red’s talismanic center put on another outstanding performance.

Pontus Jansson, speaking after the game, dubbed Virgil van Dijk the world’s best defender.

The Reds met their match this weekend.

Liverpool knew they were in for a tough game when they traveled to Brentford.

Thomas Frank has done wonders for the Bees, and this Saturday evening was possibly one of the pinnacles of his reign.

Throughout the game, the hosts exploited the Liverpool back post, with each goal having something to do with overloading that position.

Diogo Jota, Curtis Jones, and Mo Salah scored to earn the Reds a point.

There can be no argument with the outcome; the hosts fully deserved their point.

Virgil van Dijk delivered another commanding performance in the game.

The Dutchman was in top form, commanding the skies with his heading ability and thwarting attacks with his foresight.

Pontus Jansson told Sky Sports Premier League (7:39pm, September 25, 2021) after the game:

“We have Ivan and he had a fight against probably the strongest defender in the world (Van Dijk), and I think he made it good.”

It’s amazing how Virgil has returned to the fold as if he never left.

The Dutchman hasn’t slowed down. He’s still the same world-class defender he’s always been.

Unfortunately, he did not receive much assistance this weekend. Jürgen Klopp will look into it.
