Liverpool ‘prepare’ huge Kylian Mbappe contract as Real Madrid decision reached, with two other transfers in line

The final international break until March is now over, with Liverpool sitting in fourth place, four points behind leaders Chelsea.

Liverpool return to Premier League action against Arsenal tomorrow, followed by a hectic holiday period, and the recruitment team will have targets in mind heading into the January transfer window.

Jurgen Klopp has had a relatively quiet summer, with the only major acquisition at Anfield being Ibrahima Konate, who was signed before the end of May.

Could more Liverpool moves be on the way in the New Year’s sales? Here’s a roundup of some of the most recent tittle-tattle speculation from around the web.

 Kylian Mbappe.

According to the Spanish publication Defensa Central, Liverpool are preparing a massive contract offer worth €30 million per year in order to beat Real Madrid to Mbappe’s signature.

According to the same report, the Reds intend to push Real out of the race to sign Mbappe this summer.

The talented youngster has previously been linked with Liverpool and Real Madrid, and he appeared to be on his way out of Paris in the summer after informing the club of his desire to leave.

Madrid attempted to capitalize on the situation, but failed with a second bid for Mbappe worth €200 million (£171.7 million) on transfer deadline day, while a third offer from the Spanish club was reportedly rejected by PSG.

 Erling Haaland

According to the report, Liverpool have received a boost in their reported pursuit of Erling Haaland, with one club allegedly dropping out of the race to sign the striker.

According to the report, the Reds are still one of four Premier League clubs interested in the Borussia Dortmund midfielder, but Real Madrid has “pulled out of the race.”

According to FourFourTwo, the Spanish club is instead focusing their efforts in the summer on signing Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain.

Chelsea, Manchester City, and Manchester United are said to be the other English clubs interested in the 21-year-old, with Haaland “set on going to the Premier League,” according to the report.

 Luis Diaz

Various publications have reported that Liverpool are interested in Diaz following his performances for the Portuguese national team, among them Portuguese outlet Radio Renascenca.

Despite being linked with Everton and Newcastle in recent weeks, Sport Witness concentrated on reports linking the 24-year-old to a move to Anfield.

The report included quotes from Diaz’s agent Carlos Van Strahalen’s interview with the Portuguese outlet, in which he admitted there had been interest in his client.

He said: “It’s normal. If a player plays well, if he starts to stand out, if the majority considers him the best player in the Portuguese League, if he’s the top scorer and is making a high-level Champions League, that interest is normal.

“Can he leave Porto? I don’t know.”
