Liverpool may offer Chelsea three players in a player swap as Mason Mount contract talk stall

Liverpool may offer Chelsea three players in a player swap as Mason Mount contract talk stall

Liverpool is reportedly monitoring Mason Mount’s position at Chelsea as the England international’s future at the club becomes increasingly questionable.

The 23-year- old’s ocontract  expires in 18 months, and negotiations on a new term have been postponed until January because no progress has been made prior to the World Cup.

The Guardian reports that Liverpool and Juventus are monitoring the midfielder’s situation at Chelsea and may launch a bid for the player in order to bolster their midfield options.

The Reds may aim to include one of their own players to sweeten any deal for Mount in order to stave off interest from the Serie A powerhouses for the 32-time international captor.

Here, SportsDias lists some of the names Jurgen Klopp could give as he looks to bolster his team.

Naby Keita

A swap deal featuring Keita may be beneficial for all parties, since Chelsea was rumored to be interested in signing him at the end of the season, when his contract at Anfield expires.

Yet, a January transfer might also benefit Liverpool, providing the Reds the opportunity to receive compensation for their player while also allowing Chelsea to replace Mount.

However, there would be little pressure on Chelsea to let the 23-year-old to leave in January, considering that he is under contract until 2024; a move in the summer, when Keita would be a free agent, would be more plausible.

Joe Gomez

Despite the fact that Gomez has not been in great form this season, he has demonstrated in the past that he is capable of outstanding defensive performances. He is ideally suited to play in a three-man defense, a formation favored by former Brighton head coach Graham Potter, and could therefore appeal to him.

Gomez, who has fallen behind Ibrahima Konate and Joel Matip in the pecking order, is unlikely to see much action at Anfield and would certainly leap at the chance to move to Stamford Bridge.

Roberto Firmino

For years, Chelsea has struggled up front, and Firmino might be the ideal man to remedy these concerns. His link-up play has been among the greatest in the Premier League for years, and he has scored nine goals in 21 games across all competitions this season.

Firmino’s contract at Anfield expires at the end of the season, so a swap deal including him and Keita may have the same concerns. Moreover, the Brazilian is a club legend on Merseyside and may wish to leave England for his next move.
