Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher opposes Jurgen Klopp and teams with Dyche in tackle dispute
Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher felt Klopp’s version of Burnley’s approach in the Premier League loss to Liverpool was wrong.
The Pundit disagreed with Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp’s assessment that Burnley were too physical in the Premier League meeting between the sides on Saturday.
Klopp suggested the Clarets were too physical in their approach, name checking Ashley Barnes and Chris Wood – much to the annoyance of Turf chief Sean Dyche – and felt the new referee directive to let the game flow was too dangerous and would lead to more injuries.
Dyche disagreed with his Anfield counterpart and shot back at the Liverpool chief for calling out his front duo and Carragher has sided with the Burnley manager.

The Liverpool legend, speaking on Sky Sports on Monday night, was watching on at Anfield on Saturday lunchtime and didn’t see anything wrong with Burnley’s play.
“I was at the Liverpool vs Burnley game and there were a few robust challenges that were close to the line but I don’t think anything crossed the line,” said Carragher.
“That is Burnley who have to try and compete with Liverpool who are a far superior team.
“I have loved the first couple of weekends of Premier League football and the way the referees have handled it and the way the game is flowing.
“We are not talking about allowing over the top challenges or players getting hurt, we are talking about the silly, niggly ones where maybe someone has gone down too easily and are trying to buy a foul and pretend they are hurt and are not.
“But top managers at top teams will try and put that in referees’ heads because they will feel that they are in possession more and will want more fouls and free kicks so the referees have got to be strong.”
