Liverpool isssue six-word Luis Diaz injury update as one starter for Real Madrid ‘confirmed’

Luis Diaz is making progress in his rehabilitation and is getting closer to rejoining Liverpool. He sustained a knee injury during a 3-2 defeat to Arsenal in October and has not played for the team since then.

Yesterday, Diaz did not train alongside his teammates in preparation for Liverpool’s Champions League last-16 second-leg match against Real Madrid.

However, he did have a session on the field at the AXA Training Centre prior to Klopp’s team’s training session.

Liverpool shared a photo of Diaz on Twitter with a caption that read: ” “The hard work continues for @LuisFDiaz19.”

After the international break, Diaz may be available for Liverpool’s match against Manchester City on April 1st.

Liverpool face a daunting task of trying to overcome a 5-2 deficit against Real Madrid in the Champions League to advance to the quarter-finals.

Klopp will need to carefully consider his starting lineup to achieve this difficult feat, but he has been dealt a double setback with Stefan Bajcetic’s adductor injury and Jordan Henderson’s illness.

It seems likely that Fabinho will start for Liverpool in their match against Real Madrid. The Brazilian midfielder was the one chosen for pre-match media duties in Madrid, indicating that he will be in the starting lineup for the match.

Fabinho said: “We have to have confidence to play this game because we really need to change a big result that was made in the first game.

“But I think we have to really enjoy this game, we will play at the Bernabeu, a really nice stadium to play [in], a really big Champions League game. We have to try to enjoy the game.

“I think it will be important to not concede, to be intelligent in the game. We can’t be desperate early in the game because I think we have to be calm in every situation; it doesn’t matter what happens in the game, we have to be calm and try to play our best football.”
