Liverpool dealt another injury blow ahead of Arsenal clash, Klopp should be frustrated

Liverpool travels to London on Sunday afternoon to face Premier League leaders Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium, and Jurgen Klopp has provided some new injury information ahead of the game.

The Reds manager revealed during his pre-match press conference that deadline day loan signing Arthur Melo has sustained an injury and will not be available to face Mikel Arteta’s side this weekend.

Klopp told the media (via This Is Anfield): “There’s one new injury – Arthur in the last session before the Rangers game.

“In a normal situation, he just injured a muscle. We have to wait for further assessment to wait for how long it will be.”

Klopp must be frustrated with the latest injury to a midfielder in his squad, especially since the Juventus loanee was supposed to come in to add depth to an already depleted position.

Naby Keita, Curtis Jones, Jordan Henderson, Thiago Alcantara, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain have all been sidelined with injuries this season, and it was the Liverpool captain’s injury against Newcastle United at the end of August that prompted the signing of Arthur on deadline day.

Liverpool’s ongoing injury problems have contributed to the Reds’ poor start to the Premier League season, with Klopp’s side currently ninth in the table and 11 points behind their upcoming opponents at the top.

As a result, Arthur’s latest injury setback will no doubt irritate his manager, who still has six fixtures to plan for the rest of the month, including a league match against Manchester City on Sunday week and Champions League games against Rangers and Ajax.
