Liverpool completes the second signing after they hijack a £1.5m transfer for Ghanaian wonderkid Fatawu Issahaku.

Reports in Africa insist Liverpool have granted a £1.5million contract to sign Fatawu Issahaku.

Liverpool have been firmly connected with the 17-year-old this week but it now seems they may have won the race for his signature.

Issahaku has not been limited of options after he was named the Player of the Tournament at the U20 Africa Cup of Nations with Ghana.

The youngster also had two goals nominated for Goal of the Tournament after stepping up from the U17 side that he captained at the Cup of Nations in January.

It’s conjectured that Issahaku travelled to Germany to sign with Bayer Leverkusen but the agreement then failed at the eleventh hour.

German media reports insinuate the player’s entourage caused difficulties during the final negotiations.

Now African football journalist Saddick Adams maintains Liverpool have moved swiftly to get a deal over the line.

He claims Liverpool will pay Ghanian side Steadfast FC a fee understood to be around £1.5million.

Issahaku has confined a five-year deal at Anfield and will become the club’s second summer signing after Ibrahima Konate.

It’s said the youngster will be loaned out through next summer due to work-permit issues as he aims to get some regular playing time in Europe.

Last week, Issahaku verified on his Twitter channel that he’s signed a sponsorship deal with Nike.

Borussia Dortmund and Basel were also keen in signing the player.

Udinese, Nordsjaelland, and Red Bull Salzburg have also been associated but their interest was not considered as serious as the other clubs.

Issahaku was called up to the Ghana senior side for Cup of Nations qualifiers with South Africa and Sao Tome and Principe back in March.

The Youngstar is now aspiring to make his full debut next month after being named in the 30-man squad to face Morocco and Ivory Coast.

Steadfast president Haruna Iddrisu made it open in an interview with Joy Sports that the club will try to receive the best offer for their most-prized asset.

“We’ve had some offers from some major football clubs internationally. We are looking for some offers from Austria, Geneva, from Italy and from Qatar,” he said.

Issahaku is broadly considered as one of the biggest talents in African football. Now he looks set to earn his big move.
