Liverpool, Arsenal involved in signing Real Madrid playmaker for €40million
Liverpool and Arsenal are reportedly involved in signing Marco Asensio this summer, with a €40million price tag being touted.
Although the Reds should ideally look to sign a center forward to provide Roberto Firmino with race after his levels have unwaveringly dipped the last 18 months, Asensio would be an interesting option.
The Spaniard scored just seven goals for Real Madrid last term but Jurgen Klopp is world-class at coaxing the best out of attackers.
According to Spanish news outlet El Gol Digital, both Liverpool and Arsenal are involved in signing the 25-year-old.
They claim that Los Blancos want €40million in order to part way with his services in spite of the fact that he reportedly has a €519m (£442m) release clause in his contract.

The Spaniard has just two years left on his deal so the European Champions cannot demand that fee and particularly not for an attacker that has come nowhere near the heights he advanced to when he broke onto the scene.
While based on pre-season it looks as though Liverpool might have plans to play Harvey Elliott in midfield, signing Asensio would limit his prospects to play as Mohamed Salah’s understudy on the right-wing.
If Xherdan Shaqiri gets his wish and moves to Lazio, the starlet will be asked to play at right wing from time to time this season but signing Asensio would mean he’d hardly get a look in.
