Lisandro Martinez calls United teammate “idiot” after high-profile confrontation

Erik ten Hag’s  Manchester United  team have discovered a fighting spirit that has propelled them to the top of the Premier League standings.

Therefore, Lisandro Martinez has given his new teammate Wout Weghorst a comedic nickname.

According to the Daily Mail, Martinez refers to the forward as “Bobo,” which translates to “idiot.”

The tongue-in-cheek moniker refers to the quarterfinal World Cup match between Argentina and the Netherlands, which ended in fallout.

Argentine captain Lionel Messi was seen yelling Weghorst’s name during a post-game interview, a clip of which quickly went viral.

It appears that the two United players have taken the situation in stride, with Weghorst taking the teasing in stride.

Weghorst is currently on loan at United until the end of the season, but he hopes a strong finish will earn him a permanent transfer.

The Dutchman has been of great assistance to Erik ten Hag, starting every game during his loan and scoring a well-taken goal in United’s Carabao Cup semi-final victory against Nottingham Forest.

With Anthony Martial unable to regain his fitness, Ten Hag’s attack has been centered around the big striker’s impressive link up play. Weghorst was required to earn his living.

Martinez has proven to be one of the season’s best signings. His no-nonsense, aggressive style of defense, coupled with his skill with the ball, has won over the hearts of United supporters.

Ten Hag’s men, who are still fighting on four fronts, will undoubtedly feature heavily in the coming weeks, as they have a slew of upcoming games.

This Sunday afternoon, United will travel to Leeds for the rematch of their midweek league loss. The Red Devils will be looking to avenge their failure in midweek.
