Lisandro Martinez and Cristian Romero left stranded from Argentina’s international duties

Lisandro Martinez and Cristian Romero were unable to join the Argentine squad for two upcoming friendlies due to visa concerns resulting from the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

The 24-year-old  Manchester United defender was scheduled to travel to Miami early Saturday morning for their match against Honduras, followed by a match against Jamaica four days later.

They have two matches remaining until the World Cup begins in November, with Argentina facing Saudi Arabia in their first group match.

According to TyC Sports, Martinez and Tottenham teammate Romero are unable to go to the United States due to the closure of the U.S. Embassy in London.

This indicates that the two were unable to obtain their visas in time to travel with their Argentina colleagues to the match against Honduras.

Meanwhile, Lionel Messi, Angel Di Maria, Leandro Paredes, and Nicolas Tagliafico have joined their colleagues, and Argentina will prepare for both games at Inter Miami’s training facility.

Messi has been in excellent form for Paris Saint-Germain this season after a difficult debut season following his transfer from Barcelona.

Already with six goals and eight assists, the forward appears to be in excellent shape for what will undoubtedly be his final World Cup.

Martinez, who moved from Ajax to Manchester United for £55 million and has excelled in recent weeks, has also had a tremendous start to the season.

He has been a member of a back two that has won their previous four Premier League matches, with Martinez and Raphael Varane playing a significant role in their recent improvement.

But Martinez has expressed astonishment at how strongly United fans have responded to him so early in his time with the Red Devils. He said:

“I’m a little bit surprised, but at the same time I feel very proud. To come here to the best club in the world and the people say ‘Argentina, Argentina’, it’s amazing.”

Romero, on the other hand, has guided Tottenham to a third-place finish in the Premier League, with Antonio Conte’s squad remaining one of just two unbeaten teams this season.

Both Manchester United and Manchester City have won five games and drawn two thus far.

Despite the fact that Spurs have only posted two clean sheets so far this season, they have maintained a pristine record.
