Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers tells Arsenal one thing they need to win Premier League title after Saturday win
Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers believes that Arsenal have what it takes to win their first Premier League title since 2004. This comes after Arsenal defeated Leicester City 1-0 on Saturday, with Gabriel Martinelli scoring the winning goal in the second half.
The victory marked Arsenal’s second consecutive win. Martinelli scored by running onto a pass from Leandro Trossard before placing the ball past Danny Ward. With 18 league wins so far this season, Arsenal are getting closer to their first title in almost two decades.
Leicester were unable to challenge Mikel Arteta’s team much and only managed their first shot on Aaron Ramsdale’s goal in the last 20 minutes of the match. The Foxes are still fighting to avoid relegation, with a three-point lead over the bottom three teams.
Following the match, Brendan Rodgers spoke highly of Arsenal and predicted that they would win the Premier League title this season. He described them as “outstanding” and noted that their football and technical ability were on a different level compared to his team. Despite the close scoreline, Rodgers believed that Arsenal were the superior team.
“Top young goalkeeper, back four solid, Zinchenko has done great, has that different dimension, his technical quality and strength. Two wingers top class , in particular, Saka. If they keep everyone fit, they would have got into the top four last year. This year the same.”
