On Saturday, Arsenal will travel to Goodison Park to face relegation-threatened Everton in a pivotal Premier League matchup for both teams.

Arsenal are currently in first place, five points ahead of second-place Manchester City despite having played one fewer game than Pep Guardiola’s squad.

The Toffees, meanwhile, are at the opposite end of the table, languishing in nineteenth place, two points from safety.

This poor run of form prompted the Merseyside club to relieve Frank Lampard of his managerial duties last week. Former Burnley manager Sean Dyche has replaced Lampard, and his first game in charge will be against Mikel Arteta and company.

Leandro Trossard skipped Tuesday’s training in advance of Arsenal’s trip to the north, but the Belgian’s absence was not due to an injury. Arsenal fans will be pleased to learn that Trossard’s absence was not injury-related.

According to journalist Connor Humm, Trossard missed training at the club’s London Colney facility because his girlfriend was pregnant. The gifted forward arrived at the Emirates Stadium from Brighton during the January transfer window and played a key role off the bench in a 3-2 victory over Manchester United less than two weeks ago.

“Straight away he had a beautiful impact on the team to help us to win,” Arteta said last week when asked about Trossard’s performance against United. “That’s what I like. I see a player that is willing to make things happen and he is especially composed in the final third and is something we needed to add to the team.”
