Laughable: Arsenal player missed a match with ‘a rash everywhere’ after shaving his entire body

Perry Groves, a former Arsenal player, has disclosed that his former teammate Anders Limpar was forced to miss a game after shaving his entire body and breaking out in a rash.

Limpar played for Arsenal in the 1990s, helping the club win the old First Division in his first season.

The winger also played at Everton, where he became an idol to England legend Wayne Rooney.

The ex-Man Utd icon once proclaimed: “I’d say Anders was my idol.

“I liked him because he used to shoot and dribble more than Duncan Ferguson.”

Despite the fact that the Swede has had a wonderful career at Highbury, Groves recalls a time when the wide man was ruled out injured in the most unusual way.

Groves remarked on talkSPORT’s Sunday Session:

“When I was at the Gooners, Anders Limpar, brilliant player, he came in training one day and we looked over and he shaved all of his body hair off, under his armpits, everything.

“I said to ‘Anders what are you doing?’

“He goes ‘it makes me go through the air quicker’.

“I went, ‘you’re not a beaver Anders’.

“He did it because of that, and he couldn’t play the next game because he had a rash everywhere.”

Limpar appeared in 116 games for Arsenal, scoring 20 goals.

In addition to the league title, he was influential in the club winning both the FA Cup and the League Cup in 1991-92.

After falling out of favor with George Graham, he was sold to the Toffees in 1994 for £1.6 million.
