The former Chelsea boss, Frank Lampard will reportedly be a top candidate for England U21s coaching role if the FA makes a change.
After another poor European Championship performance by The Young Lions, the FA looks more likely to seek a replacement of under-fire Boothroyd.
The Young Lions have lost all their opening two games of their tournament after losing to both Portugal and Switzerland, with the team yet to score its first goal of the tournament.

With the team most likely to face an early tournament exit, The Daily Mail has come out to claim that former Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is among the top candidates that the football governing body seeks to speak to about the coaching position.
The new FA’s Technical Director John McDermot is the man tasked with the role of finding the next Young Lions boss. John McDermot together with his counterparts at St. George’s Park are said to be huge admirers of Frank Lampard together with his coaching staff comprising of Joe Edwards and Eddie Newton.

Lampard guided DFperby United into the England Championship final playoffs during his first tenure as Derby’s coach before he took over at Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2019. However, he was axed by Chelsea in January after a series of poor performances.
Lampard has always needed another crack as a club manager ever since he was sacked and what remains to be seen is if he will switch to an international career with The Young Lions calling.
Boothroyd’s contract as The Young Lions is set to come to an end in the summer with FA likely to effect the change. Boothroyd’s performance has not been to the level expected.
In 2019 European Championships. competitions, he failed to lead his side past group stages despite him having a pool of magnificent talented players which comprised the likes of Phil Foden, James Maddison, and Tammy Abraham.
