Kylian Mbappe sends four-word message to Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konate after France win

Ibrahima Konate, the Liverpool defender, shared a picture on his Instagram account where he can be seen smiling with Kylian Mbappe, the renowned footballer from PSG, following France’s 1-0 victory over the Republic of Ireland on Monday night.

During the game, Konate played as a central defender alongside Dayot Upamecano, and they both helped their team to keep a clean sheet and secure the victory, with Benjamin Pavard scoring the only goal of the match with an impressive long-range shot.

After the game, Konate posted the picture and tagged Mbappe with a “+3” caption, to which Mbappe replied in the comments section with the phrase “This is the same”.

It’s worth noting that Benjamin Pavard, a former French fullback, didn’t make it to the 2022 World Cup squad.

Unsurprisingly, supporters of Liverpool began inundating Mbappe with messages, urging him to join their team. However, given that FSG (Fenway Sports Group) is in charge, this is nothing but wishful thinking because they have been unable to complete a straightforward midfield signing.

This season has been a mixed bag for Konate at Liverpool due to his inconsistent form, the team’s varying performances, and his recurrent injury problems. However, the international break has been beneficial for him, as he has gained some much-needed form and self-assurance.

France’s victory over the Republic of Ireland was expected, but their recent win against the Netherlands was even more remarkable. Konate was part of the starting lineup in that match, where Virgil van Dijk’s Netherlands were outplayed and suffered a crushing 4-0 defeat in Paris, which was a disastrous start to their qualifying campaign. The French media was full of admiration for Konate’s performance on the night.

Despite this, when Konate and van Dijk resume their domestic duties, they are anticipated to be Liverpool’s preferred defensive partnership for their match against Manchester City.

The game against Pep Guardiola’s team is the early fixture this weekend, and they are currently trailing leaders Arsenal by eight points. Liverpool, who are the current champions of England, are well aware that they can no longer afford to make mistakes if they hope to win their third consecutive title.
