Karim Benzema has given his views on playing alongside Kylian Mbappe amid a possible rift in the France team.

It comes after a 3-0 victory against Bulgaria in a warm-up game ahead of Euro 2020 when Olivier Giroud scored two late goals.

However, the Chelsea striker was not pleased with his teammates and maintained the service was not good enough.

“I was a little quiet because, sometimes, I make runs and the balls aren’t forthcoming,” Giroud said. “I am not saying that I always make the best runs, but I am seeking to offer solutions in the box.”

Mbappe was less than happy with his international teammate and reportedly had to be stopped from calling a press conference on the matter.

To further strain their relationship, Giroud’s apology has reported to have been rejected by the Paris Saint-Germain starlet.

With France moving into the tournament as favorites, the last thing Didier Deschamps will want is cracks in his squad.

He has tried to cool down the situation, saying: “If you received the ball after each time you called for it, it is always the same.

“The attacker says: ‘I am making runs, but it’s on the midfield.’ The midfielders will say that it is on the attackers.

“Sometimes, the pass isn’t forthcoming, sometimes it is down to the movement. But this is not a stigmatisation of Kylian or whoever.”

And Benzema, who for so long was isolated by the France manager, has looked to calm any hint of relationship troubles.

He told Telefoot : “I had seen him on TV and had played against him in the Champions League. At his young age, he is already one of the best.

“I really enjoy playing with him, he can make the difference at any time. He can do everything.”

Of course, Mbappe has been heavily associated with a move to Real Madrid this summer as his contract situation at PSG continues to drag on.

With one year left on his contract, the forward revealed that he might not be at the right club – plunging his future further into doubt.

“I have to make the right decision, which is difficult, and give myself every chance to decide well,” Mbappe is quoted telling France Football.

“I am in a place where I like myself, feel good. But is it the best place for me? I don’t have the answer yet”.

Carlo Ancelotti will be keen to reinforce his squad in the transfer window with Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland also on their wish list.

France kick off their Euro 2020 campaign against one of the other big boys when they face Germany on Tuesday night.
