‘Just don’t talk about it’: Sky pundit slams £57m Man City star for Liverpool claim

Clinton Morrison told Sky Sports that Aymeric Laporte’s comments regarding Manchester City being “better” to Liverpool “don’t help.”

The views were given to the former striker by Sky pundit Jeff Stelling, who believes Liverpool’s front three would’score more goals’ than those from the Etihad.

Both Pep Guardiola’s and Jurgen Klopp’s teams have a busy few weeks ahead of them as they compete for the Premier League title and the FA Cup.

English football has had numerous legendary battles throughout its history, with both Klopp and Guardiola being standouts in the last ten years.

Nonetheless, following Laporte’s comments regarding Liverpool, Morrison issued this message to the £57 million defender (BBC Sport).

“No, not in every area,” said Morrison. “No chance. Look at Liverpool’s front three. Man City’s front three is good. But Liverpool’s front three will score more goals and be more ruthless than Man City’s.

“I even think in midfield. You could say Man City are strong in midfield, the likes of De Bruyne and Bernardo Silva. But Liverpool are still strong, with the likes of Henderson and Thiago.

“So, those kind of comments don’t help. I don’t understand, you are both going for it. Just don’t talk about it. Play the game and see who comes out on top, then talk like that if you want to at the end of the season once you have won.”

Both Liverpool and Manchester City will be chasing several trophies, with the Merseyside club already enjoying success this season after defeating Chelsea in the League Cup final.

Some may say that Man City craves the Champions League and would gladly accept it if the Reds won the Premier League in front of their fans.

While Klopp ended 30 years of pain for the club, the epidemic meant that the final few months, including the trophy lift, were spent without fans.

But, in any case, the next several months might go down in history as a watershed moment for either of these teams, significantly elevating their already legendary statuses.
