Jurgen Klopp reveals three Liverpool stars ‘hate me’ after his decision in Porto victory

Jurgen Klopp admits that some of his decisions against Porto on Tuesday night left some Liverpool players ‘hating’ him. Liverpool had another comfortable night away at Porto this week, scoring five goals against the Portuguese side.

Liverpool has now scored 14 goals away from home against Porto in their last three meetings.

Mohamed Salah scored with a simple tap-in midway through the first half, and Sadio Mane doubled Liverpool’s lead with a similar finish just before the break.

On the hour mark, Salah added his second of the night before Roberto Firmino came off the bench to score a quick-fire double of his own.

This is the first time all three players have scored in the same game since Liverpool’s 7-0 thrashing of Crystal Palace last December.

Salah and Mane could have added to their tally had they not been substituted in the 67th minute, with Diogo Jota also coming off in the closing minutes.

Jota was unable to add to his three goals this season before being substituted.

And Klopp reveals that his attacking trio would have been disappointed at not playing the full 90 minutes in a match where goals appeared to be up for grabs.

“Bobby only came back from injury now,” Klopp told TNT Sports.

“He’s still not ready to go 90 minutes and it’s completely fine and that’s why the three others start.

“I changed tonight all three up front and they hate me for that but it’s necessary in these moments to do it.”

Liverpool leads their group with six points from two games, but Klopp isn’t looking too far ahead.

When asked whether he considers Liverpool as one of the favourites, Klopp said: “No.

“We have a good football team and we won it two years ago and we can give pretty much each team in the world a proper game.

“But this game tonight has nothing to do with who wins the Champions League.

“It’s just importance for us to have a chance to get through in this group which is already tough enough.”
