Jurgen Klopp lauds two Man United stars ahead of Sunday’s encounter

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has expressed his admiration for Manchester United players Jadon Sancho and Mason Greenwood.

This season, Red Devils manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has a wealth of attacking talent to choose from, including Cristiano Ronaldo.

Klopp was asked about Sancho’s recent form ahead of his team’s Premier League trip to Old Trafford on Sunday evening.

The 21-year-old United winger has yet to score in 11 appearances for the club since joining from Borussia Dortmund for £73 million in July.

Sancho, on the other hand, was a prolific performer in Germany, scoring 38 goals and assisting 51 times in 104 Bundesliga games.

And Klopp believes the England winger will deliver, admitting: “Jadon Sancho is a world-class talent, definitely.

“He has all the things you need to become really one of the best players in the world in the future, that’s how it is. But he’s still very young.

“At Dortmund they were full of praise about him and rightly so. I saw a lot of games of him playing outstandingly well.

“Some people lose patience a little bit quickly – and don’t forget the options United have in this position.”

Along with Ronaldo, Sancho and Greenwood, Solskjaer has Bruno Fernandes, Juan Mata, Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford, Jesse Lingard, Amad Diallo and Edinson Cavani at his disposal.

Greenwood, 20, has been one of United manager’s most dependable attackers this season, scoring four goals in eight Premier League games.

When asked about the youngster, Klopp said: “Mason Greenwood? Wow! What a talent he is.

“I think that he has maybe pushed Jadon out of position. Mason can play in the centre, but there is no space any more, so maybe they will share.

“It’s a problem that you want to have as a manager, 100 percent.”

On Sunday, Klopp will be wary of United’s forwards as his team looks to maintain its unbeaten start to the season.

Liverpool has won five of their eight Premier League games and is undefeated in Europe, having defeated Porto, AC Milan, and Atletico Madrid.

Discussing United’s attacking threat, Klopp admitted: “If you don’t defend well against United, I wouldn’t know a reason why we should get in the coach and go there, to be honest, because the quality they have offensively is absolutely ridiculous.

“I really don’t think it’s very likely that you score three goals at United but we never, before a game, think about scoring more than we do about defending.

“So, for us, it’s 100 per cent clear that to get in a game, to stay in a game and to win a game you have to defend on your absolute highest level.

“We have to focus on that but not only, because we have to create as well. We have to play football – very important – we have to be incredibly brave.

“Brave because each ball you lose against United is a massive threat, it’s a counter-attack threat with the speed they have and all these kind of things.

“It’s a proper task to play United but we still want to do it and are looking forward to it because it’s, how we all know, one of the biggest games in the world. It will be a good one.”
