Jurgen Klopp Delivers Top Four Verdict After Liverpool Make It Three Wins From Three
Jurgen Klopp, the manager of Liverpool, stated that he is not considering the possibility of qualifying for the Champions League, despite his team’s recent victory against West Ham, which marked their third consecutive win.
Liverpool has reduced the margin to the top four to six points, but teams such as Manchester United and Newcastle, who are positioned above them, have games left to play.
When asked about Liverpool’s chances of finishing fourth after the 2-1 triumph over West Ham, Klopp responded:
“I can’t see the race yet, I can’t.
“That’s because we are not in the position for a race. So the only thing we can do is keep winning football games. If that puts pressure on other teams, that’s not in our hands because we don’t play them.
“We play Tottenham – that’s it from that area, I think, of teams above us.”
“If they win all their games, that’s it for us. But I don’t think about that. I want us to finish the season as good as somehow possible. I want to take something out of the season for next year.
“If that is European competition, great. If not, we have to accept it as well and go from there. That’s what I want now.”
Klopp has highlighted that Liverpool’s fate is not entirely in their hands. To have any hope of finishing in the top four, either Manchester United or Newcastle will need to drop a significant number of points during the remainder of the season.
Additionally, Liverpool must win all six of their remaining matches.
This is a challenging task, and the team should concentrate on performing well in their own games first.
Liverpool has three successive home fixtures approaching, which provides an opportunity to accumulate points. Therefore, they must take advantage of this and secure victories.
