Jurgen Klopp clarifies why he ‘cannot’ leave Liverpool during ‘difficult time’

Jurgen Klopp, the manager of Liverpool Football Club, has stated that he feels a great sense of responsibility and has firmly dismissed rumors of his sudden departure from the club.

Despite the team’s current poor performance, sitting 10th in the league standings with only 29 points from 20 games, Klopp still has the support of the club owners, Fenway Sports Group.

However, there have been whispers that Klopp may leave the club after seven years, less than a year into a new contract.

Prior to the upcoming Merseyside derby against Everton on Monday, Klopp made it clear that he is not considering resigning as the manager of Liverpool and emphasized his dedication to improving the team’s performance, which has been lackluster this season.

“I would say I have had difficult spells but always at the end of my time [at my other clubs],” Klopp said. “At Mainz we had difficult times during the whole time and Borussia Dortmund was probably at the beginning and the end. So I understand that people would think that way, but I will not go and I cannot go.

“I have too much responsibility and I want it and I want to sort it again. It is a difficult time, I don’t enjoy it but if we could show in this difficult time that this club is so special because we believe in everything – or people believe in me – then have to go through this together because then when we come out we will have great times again.

“Maybe the difficult times are a bit too long already, maybe for me as well. I knew it would be a difficult season but if we have five or six points more it would still not be a great season but we could talk about [qualifying for] the Champions League but now we are that far away not even you (the media) ask me about it anymore thankfully.

“So that makes it really difficult. But I don’t think about these kind of things. I am here 100% committed. If we win I feel like I was part of it but if we lose I feel 100% responsible, I was always like this in my life, so you can imagine how big the responsibility at the moment is and how I feel now and we will do absolutely everything to get through this and prepare the very positive future again.”

Klopp added: “But we cannot change that we lost the last game in the way we lost it [against Wolves] and there’s difficult times coming up, players are coming back and people think they will immediately change but they were out for a long time. We have to stay calm and smart and do the right things and there is one moment I am really emotional and that is after we lost the last game and you face me then but apart from that I am completely clear and can do the job I always did..

“And I’m experienced enough to know you can get through this because two things.: When I left Mainz it was a career step as well, so we didn’t make it, I knew there was lot of interested [clubs[. When I left Dortmund, I was really exhausted in that moment. I thought we had to change something blab blah blah and it was time to do something else.

“I am neither nor in this moment, I am completely here, but I understand when people say oh seven years there, seven years there, but that has nothing to do with it. The situation is difficult for other reasons but this is not one of them.”
