Jurgen Klopp accepts Mohamed Salah Will go to Saudi Arabia after deadline day bid

Jurgen Klopp is optimistic that the Liverpool owners will stay firm and decline an astonishing £200 million proposal for Mo Salah.

He understands that the Fenway Sports Group believes that selling a 31-year-old player for a record-breaking sum, despite his esteemed status at Anfield, would be a smart financial move.

Despite turning down Al-Ittihad’s initial £150 million offer, there is a growing sense of assurance among the Middle East leadership that an enhanced bid might persuade Liverpool to accept.

This would likely leave Klopp feeling frustrated since he would have no opportunity to secure a suitable replacement for his prolific winger in such a short time frame.

Liverpool’s Premier League title hopes would suffer greatly if Salah leaves, especially with the Saudi transfer window open until Thursday.

While Salah hasn’t protested the club’s stance, he’s confided in friends about being enticed by a £1.5m weekly wage offer and the opportunity to become the Middle East’s poster boy.

Klopp prefers Salah to stay one more season and transfer to Saudi Arabia next summer, but he’s had to yield to FSG’s business decisions in recent seasons.

The worry for Salah lies in the club’s policy of signing younger players with resale value while offloading those above 30. This vulnerability could lead to a late swoop by Al-Ittihad, who are financially strong and persistent in their pursuit.

Liverpool icon Jamie Carragher has advised the club to consider the substantial offer, even if it means potentially losing their star player.

“When you look at what Harry Kane went for, about £100m, and he is a year or two younger but he only had a year to go on his deal at Spurs.

“Salah has two years to go, he looks after himself really well. For Liverpool to sell now, they aren’t going to want what he is worth, they will want more than that,” he told Sky Sports on Friday night.
