Jose Mourinho’s opinion suggests Chelsea have an edge over Man Utd in Sergio Ramos chase.
Jose Mourinho contends Sergio Ramos would flourish in the Premier League – and suggested Chelsea could be the perfect destination for the soon-to-be free agent.
Ramos, 35, will bequeath Real Madrid at the expiry of his deal this month after 16 glittering years at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Despite his venerable years, the Spain legend still has many fans across Europe, with Paris Saint-Germain in pole position to strike terms for a free transfer.
But there is also notable interest in Ramos from certain Premier League clubs, namely Manchester United and Chelsea.
Mourinho knows the center-back well from his three seasons at Real Madrid and has no doubt he would adjust to life in the English top-flight seamlessly.

The Portuguese also emerged to recommend Chelsea would be the ideal stop for Ramos, as they have a track history of signing exciting veteran defenders.
Discussing Ramos on Friday morning, Mourinho told talkSPORT :
“You look to Thiago Silva and it’s a similar situation. He didn’t stay in Paris where people expected him to stay a couple more seasons.
“He came to Chelsea, signed one season with an option for one more. He didn’t play every match, he had a couple of little issues but in big matches he gave great stability.
“You can imagine how much he helped the team to develop, the young players and the leadership.
“I believe Ramos is in a similar situation. He’s even more physical than Thiago to cope with the Premier League’s demands.
“He’s very good in the air and I have no doubts that he can play with intensity and for the demands of the Premier League.”
Nonetheless, Mourinho revealed he has “no idea” where Ramos will end up this summer as he revealed his shock at his Real Madrid exit.
He added: “He’s (Ramos’) the kind of player that you expect to finish his career at Real Madrid so it’s quite surprising that it didn’t happen.
“I believe that in spite of his injuries this season that kept him out for a couple of months – and even the decision from Luis Enrique to leave him out of the Euros – that doesn’t hide the fact that he’s still a very good player, capable of performing a couple more seasons at a very good level.
“I can imagine that we are going to see him playing for a very good club, also because only a top club would be in condition to fulfil his financial demands.”
Ramos – who served as Los Blancos club skipper – was gathered to earn a sum in excess of £300,000 per week in the Spanish capital.
As Mourinho highlighted, his contract requirements restrict the number of clubs he could join, and he already ruled out two transfers in an emotional parting speech on Thursday.
