Jose Mourinho warned on Granit Xhaka signing ahead of Roma’s move.
Former Roma goalkeeper Fernando Orsi does not comprehend why his old club are involved in signing Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka.
The Switzerland international has agreed on a five-year deal with the Italian club as he settles in on teaming up with Jose Mourinho.
Mourinho, who was fired by the Gunners’ rivals Tottenham in April, has been in constant communication with Xhaka over the past few weeks over a move to Rome.
While the final fee has not been revealed, sources involved in the deal have told hinted that it is suspected to be in the region of €20m (£17m).
Xhaka seems set to end his five-year partnership with Arsenal shortly to join Roma, but former goalkeeper Orsi is not indoctrinated over what the Swiss star will bring to the Stadio Olimpico.
Orsi said on Italian radio station Radio Radio’s Mattino Sport:

“[Granit] Xhaka is a box-to-box midfielder, but he does not have great dynamism.
“The player does not completely convince me, he is not exciting.
“He is physical, he does not solve the problems of the team, but in a team he is good.”
Xhaka has had a very up and down career at Arsenal, but has been a constant under the three managers he’s played for – Arsene Wenger, Unai Emery, and Mikel Arteta.
The 28-year-old will be expecting to become a regular too under his soon-to-be manager Mourinho, and inferring from past comments made by the Portuguese coach, the midfielder could be a significant part of his plans.
Speaking in 2019, Mourinho said:
“Xhaka is the main man in the entire Arsenal midfield, you can’t see it unless I lend you one of my eyes.
“Without him, Arsenal is lost. He is a leader. Remember, mistakes are made by humans.”
