John Terry’s tweet about Sergio Aguero goes viral following Argentina’s World Cup victory
After Sergio Aguero was likened to John Terry while celebrating Argentina’s 2022 World Cup victory, John Terry’s tweet about the retired striker went viral.
Aguero, who was forced to terminate his spectacular career due to a heart problem a year ago, was in the middle of the festivities inside the Lusail Iconic Stadium on Sunday when his country was declared world champion.
Following one of the greatest games in football history, Argentina overcame France on penalties.
Kylian Mbappe scored a hat-trick for France, becoming only the second player to do so in a World Cup final, but it was not enough for Les Bleus to win the championship.
Lionel Messi scored twice and Angel Di Maria also found the back of the net before the final was decided on penalties.
After Kingsley Coman and Aurélien Tchouameni failed to convert from the penalty spot, Argentina won the World Cup for the first time since 1986.
Moments after Gonzalo Montiel scored the clinching penalty kick for Argentina, Sergio Aguero was on the field.
It seemed fitting that Aguero, one of Messi’s closest pals, was there to celebrate alongside his former Argentina colleagues.

It was difficult to avoid comparisons with Terry, who memorably participated in Chelsea’s 2012 Champions League-winning celebrations in full kit despite missing the final against Bayern Munich due to suspension.
Frank Lampard defended his fellow Chelsea icon for his actions at the Allianz Arena many years later.
Terry has taken so much criticism over this over the previous decade, but it appears he now sees the humor in it.
On Sunday, while Aguero went “full JT,” Terry tweeted: “If [you’re] going to do it, at least go for it and put the shin pads and boots on.”

Jamie Carragher and Alan Shearer, along with many others, loved Terry’s tweet immensely:
Aguero, like Terry, will not be concerned with the criticism of random football fans on social media networks

He was there to commemorate a momentous occasion in the history of football with a bunch of players with whom he has had innumerable highs and lows over the years.
