John Terry delivers seven-word honest verdict on Chelsea’s Champions League group stage draw

Following the UEFA Champions League group stage draw, John Terry shared his thoughts on Chelsea’s group.

AC Milan, Red Bull Salzburg, and Dinamo Zagreb have all been assigned to Group E, which includes the west Londoners.

The draw has already uncovered a slew of intriguing storylines and potential narratives for everyone to enjoy. “It could have been a lot worse,” the former Blues defender said on Twitter.

Chelsea had great success in the previous competition season, when Thomas Tuchel led the club to a second Champions League title in his first season as manager.

Todd Boehly will be looking to build on the rich history of the west Londoners, and he’s already welcomed six new faces to Stamford Bridge in that effort.

The Blues, meanwhile, have shown no signs of slowing down, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Anthony Gordon heavily linked with new signings.

Boehly’s market activity demonstrates that he and his consortium are clearly eager to win the club’s third Champions League title.

Fikayo Tomori and Olivier Giroud are set to return to west London, subject to availability. The latter of whom was crucial in helping Chelsea win the trophy in Porto.

While Group E may appear to some to be an easy draw, AC Milan won Serie A in spectacular fashion last season.

Last season, Salzburg reached the Champions League knockout stages for the first time in their history, shocking Bayern Munich in the Round of 16.

Meanwhile, rivals Tottenham Hotspur learned their fate in north London.

Antonio Conte’s side was assigned to Group D, which included Europa League champions Eintracht Frankfurt, Sporting CP, and Marseille. Arsenal, on the other hand, is participating in the Europa League this season and will find out their group on August 26.
