Joao Felix delivers verdict on whether or not Chelsea should sack Graham Potter
Joao Felix thinks that Graham Potter should not be fired as the head coach of Chelsea, even though the team has only won three out of 16 matches, not counting the friendly against Aston Villa.
Despite making some positive contributions to the team since joining on loan from Atletico Madrid in January, the 23-year-old has only scored one goal, which was assisted by Enzo Fernandez in a match against West Ham United last month.
Chelsea and its players, including Felix, have been squandering opportunities, which has resulted in their opponents taking advantage of their early pressure and scoring against them.
During the first leg of their Champions League match against Borussia Dortmund, Chelsea experienced the consequences of their wastefulness when Karim Adeyemi scored on the counter, leading to a 1-0 win for the Bundesliga team.
Joao Felix had opportunities to score himself, but unfortunately, he hit the crossbar with his shot. The second leg of the match will take place at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday.
Due to Chelsea’s poor performance in recent months, head coach Potter has faced growing criticism, with many fans calling for his dismissal.
However, Potter was able to alleviate some of the pressure by leading the team to a 1-0 victory over Leeds United on Saturday.
The team’s upcoming match against Dortmund will be a real test for Potter and his coaching abilities.
Several Chelsea players, including Ruben Loftus-Cheek, have expressed their support for Potter.
Loftus-Cheek believes that the squad owes a debt of gratitude to Potter for standing by and protecting them during their difficult period.
Joao Felix has now stepped forward to defend Chelsea’s head coach and suggests that responsibility for the team’s recent struggles should be equally shared among all players. Rather than placing the blame solely on Potter, Felix believes that the entire team should take responsibility for their performances and work together to improve.
“Yeah, for sure,” responded the Portugal international when asked about the players needing to take responsibility for the decline of results.
“The fault is of course about us and the coach but not even the players have to take all the fault and the coach has to take all the fault. It’s between us. We have to be together and we are.
“We have an amazing group, the coach is with us, we are with the coach, so that’s perfect. The situation will change for sure.”
