The Catalans are braced for presidential elections and Joan Laporta is among the favourites to be voted into power to extend his leadership for a second time. Laporta had a successful era when he was in charge of the club that he led during their trophy-laden era under now Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola.
With big plans for the club, Laporta is eyeing current Arsenal boss Arteta to replace Ronald Koeman who was appointed in the summer. Arteta, who is a former La Masia graduate, spent over three years working as a Pep Guardiola assistant at Manchester City before joining Arsenal.
With reports suggesting that the Catalans Xavi Hernandez does not seem interested to take over this summer, Arteta creates much appeal to Joan Laporta because of his connections with Pep Guardiola and his style of football.
