Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville agree on Liverpool top four chance amid predictions clash

According to both Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville, Liverpool will miss out on the Champions League for the first time since 2016 this season.

One of the few points on which the Sky Sports analysts agreed was that Jurgen Klopp’s squad would not finish in the Premier League’s top four.

Former Manchester United defender Neville questioned the Reds’ absence from Carragher’s list, predicting Manchester City to overtake Arsenal and his former club to finish second ahead of the Gunners.

Discussing their picks on Monday Night Football Neville said: “Have you ruled your mob out of it?” Carragher replied: “No I don’t think Liverpool will get top four.”

Neville argued: “They’re only 10 points behind with a game in hand?” to which Carragher responded: “Only 10 points? How many points until you say someone can’t do something? Liverpool are not playing well enough.”

Carragher selected Arsenal as the Premier League champion, followed by Manchester City, Manchester United, and Newcastle United for the final Champions League spot.

Neville did not believe that Eddie Howe’s team would maintain their impressive form in the second half of the season, predicting instead that Tottenham would finish in fourth place.

Liverpool are currently ninth in the table, 10 points behind both Manchester United and Newcastle United, having played one fewer game.
