Jack Grealish makes Raheem Sterling threat after Man City’s transfer bid report.

Jack Grealish has cheekily threatened to stop passing to Raheem Sterling after his England teammate disregarded the Aston Villa captain’s assist against the Czech Republic.

Grealish set up Sterling’s match-winning header in England’s final group match at Wembley on Tuesday on his first start at Euro 2020.

The Villa playmaker, who is a £100m target for Manchester City, floated a cross to the back post in the first half and Sterling did the rest from close range.

But Grealish was less than surprised after being told that City forward Sterling fancied Kalvin Phillips’ assist to him in England’s win over Croatia – because the Leeds United midfielder “actually meant to pass it to me.”

Lions’ Den host Josh Denzel told Grealish: “We had Raz on the show yesterday and he had to rate his favourite assist – either yours or Phillips’.

“He said ‘Phillips actually meant to pass it to me and Jack just dinked it to the back post.’”

A smirking Grealish replied by asking: “Is that what he said, yeah?” before adding: “Raz, I’m not passing to you again.”

Grealish will hope to preserve his place in the side for Tuesday’s test last 16 tie against Germany having been one of England’s best players last week along with Bukayo Saka and Harry Maguire, who made his return from injury.

“We’ve got the talent where you’d expect somebody to finish it and that’s what happened,” said Grealish. “It went just over Bukayo’s head (to Sterling).”

He added: “Even at the moment (with reduced capacity) it feels like there’s so much more. When you’re singing the national anthem it gives you goosebumps.

“All my family and friends that went to the game said the same thing.”

Grealish’s comments come amid heightened speculation over his future with City keen on the 25-year-old this summer.

Radio station talkSPORT are stating that Grealish is ‘close’ to moving to the Premier League champions for around £100m – a settlement which would make him the most expensive Englishman ever.

BirminghamLive has been told that initial talks are yet to take place between Villa’s hierarchy and City’s agents.

Villa have begun negotiations with Grealish over a new deal with owners Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens determined to keep him at the club.
