‘I’ve heard’: Shaun Wright-Phillips expose what the Chelsea players think of Potter’s training
Shaun Wright-Phillips has learned that the Chelsea players are enjoying the new manager’s training sessions.
Graham Potter, 47, is the new manager at Stamford Bridge. He’s off to a strong start, with five wins and one draw in his first six matches.
The Blues’ head coach’s unbeaten streak is put to the test tonight when his team travels to London rivals Brentford in the Premier League.
Former Chelsea star Wright-Phillips has revealed that the current Blues squad is having a great time at Cobham under Potter’s leadership.
“At Brighton he didn’t have that striker to find the back of the net on a regular basis, but I feel like now he’s not only got strikers that can do it, he also has midfielders. We know Gallagher chips in with goals, Mount we know scores, and he’s got the wingers to do it as well,” Wright said on ‘The Kelly and Wrighty Show’.
“He’s got the guys to put the numbers up and I’ve heard they are all happy and they love his training sessions. As a manager, if you have part and have elite players you have half won the battle.”
Potter is still riding the new manager high, so let’s hope it lasts through this midweek league trip to Brentford.
On the pitch, it’s clear that his ideas are slowly coming to fruition, which is very exciting given how eye-catching his Brighton side was.
To be fair, the Englishman came in to work with a very talented group of players who may have just needed some new ideas.
Thomas Tuchel deserves to be mentioned alongside the club’s greatest managers over the last two decades, but things may have soured toward the end of his reign.
Indeed, according to journalist Simon Phillips, Tuchel had lost roughly 70% of the Chelsea dressing room by the time he was fired.
