‘It’s time’: Serge Aurier reacts to Arsenal yesterday’s announcement with six-word Instagram post

Nicolas Pepe has joined OGC Nice on a season-long loan from Arsenal, and his countryman, Serge Aurier, who spent four years at Tottenham Hotspur, has messaged him on Instagram.

In 2019, the Gunners paid a club record £72 million for Pepe (BBC). He’s still the most expensive signing in Arsenal history, but the talented Ivorian just didn’t work out at the Emirates.

Pepe has had a rollercoaster ride over the last few months.

The 27-year-old looked set to leave Arsenal at the end of last season. He even switched agents to accomplish this, but the story took an unexpected turn last month.

Pepe hinted onn Instagram that he will not leave the Gunners this summer. “I worked hard during the summer.

Changed a lot of things. I’m focused and determined with @arsenal and my teammates,” he wrote.

Exactly a month after the above post, Arsenal announced that Pepe has joined Nice on loan until the end of the season, and we have to say that it is the best move for both parties.

Aurier, Pepe’s compatriot, posted an Instagram Story yesterday with a message to the Arsenal player following his move to Nice.

“Let’s go, it’s time for all,” he wrote last night.

It’s a shame that things didn’t work out for Pepe at Arsenal.

The Ivorian has undeniable quality. He’s quick, skilled with the ball, and one of the best dribblers in the world. On his day, he’s unplayable, but sadly for him and Arsenal, those days were few and far between.

Everyone agreed that moving away this summer made a lot of sense. Pepe is now back in France, where he made the world take notice in his final season at Lille, where he scored 23 goals and provided 12 assists.

He could become a superstar again in France, but regardless of what happens there, it appears that he has no future at Arsenal.
