‘It was incredible’: Antonio Conte saw something very impressive about Liverpool when they were 2-0 down against Villareal
In Liverpool’s midweek win against Villarreal, Antonio Conte spotted something ‘incredible.’ He’ll face the Reds the tomorrow.
Liverpool have returned to the Premier League after qualifying for the UEFA Champions League final earlier this week.
Tottenham Hotspur will visit Anfield in what is undoubtedly the Reds’ hardest remaining league meeting.
Of course, they go into it in good spirits. Their victory at El Madrigal was memorable, propelling them to their third Champions League final in five years.
Their most recent came against Saturday’s opponents, and manager Antonio Conte was undoubtedly watching Liverpool’s exploits.
In fact, he claims to have noticed something ‘incredible’ as Liverpool defeated Villarreal.
“For sure we know that in this moment Liverpool are in really good form,” he said, per Football London.
“I have watched the game against Villarreal and it was incredible the calm that the team showed in a difficult situation.
“They were 2-0 down and the atmosphere was very difficult. They are one of the best teams in the world with Manchester City.”
That, we believe, was the most important takeaway from the game.
Liverpool struggled in the first half, unable to match Villarreal’s enthusiasm and speed.
Only the second half demonstrated that the Reds had a few more gears to their arsenal.
They remained composed, raised their game, and scored three goals in the span of 25 minutes.
It was an impressive display of dominance, but perhaps unsurprising.
After all, Liverpool is now chasing three trophies. They can’t afford to play every game in maximum speed, so having the ability to shift up and down as needed makes sense.
Perhaps we’ll see something similar on Saturday. Liverpool will try to overcome Tottenham while putting in as little effort as possible.
The only real chance they have of being fresh for Aston Villa on Tuesday is if they play like that.
It won’t be simple, but it will be stunning.
