‘In pre-season…’: Granit Xhaka reveals what he noticed about Arsenal’s squad even before a ball was kicked
Granit Xhaka has been one of Arsenal’s standout performers this season, and the midfielder has revealed that the club’s success comes as no surprise to him.
Many fans and pundits have been taken aback by Arsenal’s outstanding start to the season. The Gunners presently lead the table, one point ahead of Man City. Mikel Arteta was backed again this summer.
Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko, for example, signed lucrative contracts.
Of course, those two, among others, have made a significant impact at Arsenal. However, Xhaka believes that the writing has been on the wall for this Arsenal squad since pre-season.
Xhaka told The Evening Standard that he sensed a strong team spirit inside the squad that he had never witnessed before.
“I am not surprised, because in pre-season I had a good feeling at how everything was working. The team spirit we built then was something I didn’t have at this club until now. I knew this season could be a special one for everyone, for ourselves, for the club,” Xhaka told the Evening Standard.
Xhaka has been one of Arsenal’s most important players this season. The Swiss great, reborn until Mikel Arteta, is in fine form heading to the World Cup.
