Reece James has previously worn the number 24 for Chelsea, but the departures this summer have certainly resulted in some significant alterations in the squad numbers.
New Stamford Bridge promotional material stated that James will now be number 14, with Trevoh Chalobah perhaps switching to Antonio Rudiger’s former number 2.
Chelsea fans would definitely prefer Reece as a 2, but 14 is more representative of his aggressive, wing-back posture.

Reece James has emerged as one of the world’s most influential right-backs in the last year or two.
James made his England debut in lockdown and has a total of eleven caps. He is anticipated to be named to Gareth Southgate’s World Cup squad in November.
The England international has three years left on his current contract, and new Chelsea owner Todd Boehly faces the problem of resolving the contract issue.
According to the Daily Mail, James’ current weekly salary is £70,000, which does not reflect his status as a crucial first-team member for the team.
The Blues have not approached him about extending his contract, which could cause some conflict.
