“I’m good”- Talented Dutch starlet breaks silence on Man United links after ten Hag appointment

Jurrien Timber, of Ajax Amsterdam, has spoken out about being linked with a move to Manchester United, according to Het Parool (via The Metro).

The 20-year-old is a standout performer for Ajax and an exciting prospect to watch in the coming years.

His performances for the Dutch giants, where he is already a first-team fixture, have piqued the interest of some of Europe’s finest clubs.

Erik ten Hag clearly likes Timber and has used him frequently in recent months when he has been available.

Timber has been linked with a move to Old Trafford as the Dutch manager prepares to take over Manchester United in the summer.

The teenager has since spoken out about his interest, playing it down and stressing that he is content with his current situation at Ajax.

He also stated that he is eager to play in the Champions League, which Ajax will undoubtedly accomplish next season if their league positions remain unchanged.

“I’m good at Ajax. I can still learn a lot, especially if we continue to play in the Champions League.” He said

Timber’s comments are also a slap in the face to Manchester United, who are looking increasingly unlikely to qualify for Europe’s elite competition next season.

After making that declaration, it makes little sense for Timber to move to Old Trafford simply to watch the team he left compete in the Champions League.

Timber, a center-back, is a versatile defender who can play anywhere in the backline.

Replacing Matthijs de Ligt in the Ajax defense was not an easy challenge, but the teenager has done a great job.

The 20-year-old is a muscular presence at the back who is not only a clever tackler but also technically skilled.

Harry Maguire, Raphael Varane, Victor Lindelof, and Eric Bailly are Manchester United’s four experienced center backs.

The foursome, on the other hand, has fallen short of its core goal, and changes may be required this summer.

Timber still has a lot to learn, but if he makes the transfer, he might be a long-term asset for the Red Devils.

It is critical that United and ten Hag aim to strengthen the defense this summer, especially given how Bailly has been demoted to the bench in recent weeks and Maguire’s dismal run of play.

If not Timber, a leader to lead this Manchester United defense would be a good addition before the next transfer market closes.
