‘I’ll never accept’, – Youssoufa Moukoko breaks silence on £5.2m contract claim amid Chelsea link

Youssoufa Moukoko of Borussia Dortmund has responded to rumors that he rejected a lucrative contract in Germany.

The 18-year- old’s  currentcontract expires next summer, and a number of elite clubs are vying for his signing in hopes of acquiring a promising young player for nothing.

Moukoko was a member of Germany’s World Cup squad throughout the last month, but he was limited to a substitute appearance in the final group game as Hansi Flick’s team was eliminated before the round of 16.

During his time in Qatar, it became known that Chelsea was among the clubs interested in signing him.

As he reaches the final six months of his contract next month, he will be able to discuss a pre-contract with other teams, but Dortmund is naturally interested in keeping him for longer.

Moukoko is one of the rising stars of European football, as he has already scored six goals in 14 league matches at the senior level this season. He has a stellar youth record and has scored six goals in 14 league games at the senior level.

Todd Boehly is determined to recruit as many guys in this area as possible, and his demeanor may also impress him. Moukoko has stayed defiant while rumors about his future circulate, and he has taken to Instagram to express his anger.

“I know that this is all part of the football business by now, but even though I’m still young, I won’t let myself be pressured in my decision about my future,” he wrote. “I will never accept such a lie about me. It’s really sad that you can bring something like this into the world nowadays so that you (fans) have a false image of me.

“Very, very sad, because I’m still shocked by the report.”

It comes after Bild reported he rejected a €6m (£5.2m) per year contract offer from his boyhood club, demanding €7m (£6.1m) instead. This amounts to a weekly pay gap of $16,000.

Moukoko is presently two years into his first professional contract, which he signed at the age of 16 in 2020, and will receive a significant wage raise regardless of his future decision due to his status in the global game.

Patrick Williams, his agent, has already told Sky Germany that these rumors are false, stating, “I can confirm that we are not about to conclude a contract extension with Borussia Dortmund. I can also assure you that the numbers that are circulating are simply not correct and Youssoufa was never offered that much. But we are still in contact with Dortmund and will see what the next few days bring.

“A player like Youssoufa is interesting for every top club in the world. Especially when he is free and has a future in the German national team.”

Chelsea have already demonstrated a desire to sign youngsters, completing a deal for 19-year-old David Datro Fofana and agreeing a fee of £13 million for 18-year-old Brazilian Andrey Santos.

Boehly also spent over £50 million on teenagers in the summer and is planning to add some of the greatest young players to the Chelsea squad in the upcoming transfer windows.
